of crazy weathers and house plants...

phew! the weather nowadays has really gone bonkers! all i want to do is to stay indoors the whole day until the sun goes down. then only i'd attempt to go outside. that also, the heat is enough to make us sweat buckets!

normally i don't really sweat a lot. but the weather now is so hot that i'd sweating right after i finished taking my bath, even before i have time to put on my clothes! urgh!!

anyway, i have this house plant (dunno what it's called) which don't really need lots of water. on normal days, i'll water it once only every 2-3 days... but nowadays, i water it everyday, and YET it still looks like this when i get back from work!

2 or 3 hours after watering it, it'll look healthy again...

hmm... maybe i should water it twice a day?

luckily some rain fell this evening... but it's not enough! pray this hot and dry spell won't cause water shortage...

R. I. P.

my first ever compact digital camera finally met its demise after rendering its service faithfully for a total of 6 years.

FUJIFILM FinePix F410
20 May 2003 - 3 May 2009

its screen was considered one of the widest of its time...
tho' now a lot of newer models have surpassed it

at its final days, it still tried its best... but normal tasks that were a breeze previously have became a daily struggle. it was not able to perform as efficiently and effortlessly as before.

most of the outdoor shoots were overexposed

officially, this is the final shot taken by F410, on 27th Dec 2008

my dear F410,

thanks for sticking with me thru thick and think. i'll never forget the times we've had together, and the places we've seen and snapped. tho' many more cameras will come and go in my life, u'll always be my no. 1.

rest in peace, baby. you deserve it...

a beary post...

do you know what bear is this?

for those who don't, -_-'''

this, my friend, is forever friends bear! it's like the cutest, cuddliest, most irresistible toy bear in the world! but how come so few ppl know abt it?

every month, i'll download a forever friends monthly calendar from their website to serve as my laptop wallpaper. everyone knows this because normally i'm the one who has to take minutes during meetings and my laptop screen will be flashed onto the projector as i type out the minutes.

one day, we were planning for something and was discussing abt the dates, when bossbossboss asked me to minimize my word doc so that we can see the calendar. she said, "show your carebears calendar. that is big and easier to see." CAREBEARS???

another time, a colleague just happened to come by my work station. suddenly she said, "wah, your honey bear so cute ler!" i was like, "huh, what honey bear?" took me a while before i realized that she's referring to my screen! HONEY BEAR???

is it me, or some ppl just can't differentiate bears? i mean, even if you've never heard of forever friends, at least u can tell apart the different kinds of bears, right? ok, at least the basic ones like the grizzly/brown bear, the black bear, polar bear, honey/sun bear, giant panda bear, koala bear, right? right??

and just so you know, the koala is not a bear. got u there, didn't i? hehe... anyway, how can anyone anyone mistaken forever friends bear with a honey bear? honey bear, or better known as the sun bear, is black or dark brown in colour, nothing near the forever friends bear colour at all! *rolls eyes*

now, where was i? oh yeah, forever friends bear... i have 2 forever friends, 1 fake and 1 authentic.

a graduation gift from housemate M's mom...

valentine's day gift from the then bf...

at the sole of one of the bear's foot...

another fav bear of mine is the "me to you" bear. they're so dem cute!!! but not so their price... i think they're more expensive than ff bears! %!@%#&*^%^@

don't u just love their kesian expression and the stitched up patches?
no, this is not mine. i just copied this pic off the internet...

hmm... wonder who will be the next person to present me with a bear?

another crocheted wrist bag...

was at ampang park sometime last month for lunch and went to browse around at Haby & Wools. that was when i found out that the yarn i used to make N's wristlet will be discontinued and the stock that they have there will be their last. so in a fit of panic, i bought a few more skeins in various colours for my stock...

at home, as i was organising my yarn stock, i realized that i've been making so many stuff, but none of them were for MYSELF! hmp!! how can??? so i decided to crochet a wristlet for myself... in sweet pink!

all these while, whenever i go for lunch on working days, i'll be using a drawstring pouch that was a hand-me-down from the previous gal whose position i took over. so pathetic, right?

a very handy drawstring bag for a quick jaunt to lunch...

a lot of times, when i go out for lunch with my clgs or bosses, they will recognize this pouch and say things like: "that looks familiar..." or "isn't that LG's bag?" not that i'm ashamed of it or anything. why wanna waste a perfectly serviceable bag just because it's a hand-me-down, right? so whenever someone mentions abt this pouch, i'd proudly say, "yes! she left it for me, like how she left her job here for me!" or "yeah, i brought it home, gave it a good washing and it's as good as new!"

anyway, here's the wristlet that i've made for myself. exactly the same as the one i did for N, only in pink.

mine! mine!

oh yeah, i bought some purple yarns from haby & wools too, hoping to make something for a certain someone who simply loves all things purple! in fact, i've started making something with those yarns, but later found out that the paterns are too complicated for my level. argh!!! i can't make head or tail of the instructions! so frustrating... and so, had to abandon the purple project until i find something else that i can make, and to "that certain someone who simply loves all things purple", guess your suprise package will have to wait... sorry!

some updates on chewie...

received some photo updates from nicole, chewie's current owner... gosh, she's grown so much! i thought when i sent her to nic, she's grown to her full size at 1 year old. but looks like i was wrong. as nic put it, "it's either she kept on growing or we're feeding her too much!" and her fur has changed colour somewhat, esp the top part of her head. she looks like a blonde lady now! hahaha... but i think the rest of her body has turned a darker brown, instead of the buff from her baby days.

she's sporting much longer fur too...

from this angle, she looks like she has a head full of white hair! so weird, like an old lady...

going thru the hand-hand trick... actually nic was just trying to bribe her to sit still for a photo!

with current owner, nicole!

compare her with when she was just a wee baby! so botak last time, right? hehe...

my fav photo of her... i'll always remember the day i brought her home...

gosh, i miss her so SO so much! :'(

earth day 2009

did you know that tomorrow's earth day? yeah, now u know: TOMORROW IS EARTH DAY. YW told me this morning that everyone in her company will be wearing green tmr. so happening hor? must be all youngsters... keke...

anyway, taking the cue from YW's colleagues, i've also campaigned in my office (just my side of the floor and also on facebook and msn lar) to wear green tomorrow to spread the awareness. dunno how effective my campaign is lar... we'll see tmr lor!

my "green effort" for today:
1) brought homemade sandwiches to work in a square bread container
2) came back from shopping during lunch hour at KLCC without any plastic bag!
3) mentioned to housemate P this morning that her letting the water run while brushing her teeth is a very bad habit. she's promised to change

so what are your "green effort" today?

more crocheted baby shoes...

these are for an order by another colleague, for a set of twins belonging to her friend. blue for the boy and pink for the girl...

actually i've completed crocheting these quite some time ago, just too lazy to sew in the buttons. finally, after a few prompts from the said colleague, i managed to sew it at 1am this morning... hehe...

the twins are not exactly babies anymore... more like active 1.5 year old toddlers.
so clg have requested for the soles to be in grey

hopefully the size is right lar... coz i just agak-agak based on the measurements given by clg

my new workstation...

as mentioned, there were some reshuffling in the office and i had to move from my big and spacious cubicle to a small and normal work station...

anyway, have settled in and organized my stuff as best i can in the cramped space. so here are some photos...

work station with a view ler! dun play-play! so now i'm officially
the "weather girl" in the office, coz anyone who wanna know abt the weather
or the traffic situation, they'll just need to holler at me for a "weather report
"

the place in front of me is for my intern.
bossboss: "see, u die-die also want a proper workstation
for ur intern, so now ur own place became so cramped."

message to N: see that white board on the wall there?
still waiting for my felt cloth magnets ler...
:P

office like a war zone...

there are some changes going on in the office, with some reshuffling going on. resulting from that, i need to move from my "bestest cubicle in the world" to another work station (a not so best one *sob*sob*). but the moving is taking longer than expected coz some ppl who will be moving out are still here and some ppl who are moving in are already here, earlier than they should be.

anyway, to make a long story short, i'm currently 'cubicleless', coz i need to clear my cubicle for the move, but can't move to my new work station yet! so now my stuff is all over the place in the bossboss's room, making it look a war zone...

i dare say abt 75% of the things in here are mine!

earth hour 2009

happened to be at ikea last saturday with N and her cousin, and managed to catch the earth hour 2009 event they had at their cafe. they got the mixFm team in, and there were some games and stuff going on.

needless to say, the place was packed and we had some trouble looking for a place to sit. many ppl were just sitting around at the tables even after finishing their meals. then we thought, maybe these people were just curious as to what's going to happen for the countdown and after that, they will leave. so we did not worry too much abt getting a seat, but proceeded to join the long queue to buy our dinner.

even before 8.30pm, they have toned down their lights
at the eating area. only the food counters were lighted up

after the count down, all the lights at the dining area were switched off and a few ikea staff came out bearing trays of 'pirate lanterns' (my fav kinda lanterns!) with lighted candles inside, to be placed on the tables.

pirate lanterns for a new dining experience...

true enough, after the countdown to earth hour 2009 at 8.30pm, most of the tables became empty.

just an hour without lights and already we felt the inconvenience.
we had difficulties polishing up our fried chicken wings
nicely to the bones, coz we couldn't really see!

read N's account of the event as well here!
